How Parents Apply for the SGO Grant

We designed our parent application process to be straightforward, transparent, and supportive every step of the way. Follow these four simple steps:

1. Student & Household Eligibility Criteria

  • ✓Enrolled Grades: Student must be enrolled in or admitted to Kindergarten through 12th grade.
  • ✓Accredited School: The school must be an approved, accredited private or charter educational institution.
  • ✓Financial Need: Priority allocation for households at or below 300% of federal poverty guidelines or with demonstrated need.
  • ✓One Grant per Child: One scholarship grant of up to $1,700 per student per academic year.

2. School Partnership Criteria

  • ✓State-recognized accreditation or valid regional educational authority standing.
  • ✓Willingness to certify student enrollment, attendance records, and apply grants exclusively to tuition and fees.
  • ✓Agreement to return unused grant portions should a student withdraw before the academic term concludes.

3. Direct Fund Dispersal Protocol

Never Paid to Parents: In strict accordance with SGO and tax credit regulations, funds are under no circumstances disbursed directly to parents or legal guardians. Dispersal is executed via electronic transfer or certified check made payable directly to the school.

Semester Installments: The $1,700 award is commonly disbursed in two equal installments of $850 (Fall and Spring), conditioned on verified continued enrollment at the start of each semester.

Tuition Credit Guarantee: The participating school must credit the student's tuition account immediately upon receipt of funds and provide an updated billing statement to the family.

Audited Accounting: All SGO disbursements and donor allocations are tracked through our administrative review system and subject to annual independent fiscal review.
